Church Choir
Church Choir
  • members range in age from grade school to adult
  • rehearses in the Luther Room (107) from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings from late August to late May
  • sings two to three Sundays a month from September to May
  • sings once a month in June, July, and August
  • sings repertoire chosen to highlight the appointed Scripture readings for each Sunday sings at special services, including Advent midweek worship, Christmas Eve, New Year\'s Eve, Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, Lenten midweek worship, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Ascension, Thanksgiving Eve
  • sings at many festival Sunday morning services including Transfiguration, Easter Day, Pentecost, and Reformation Day
  • is directed by Louis Schuler

Kantorei
Kantorei
  • members range in age from grade school to adult
  • sings at least eight times a year
  • sings repertoire from advanced choral literature with minimal rehearsal, requiring practice outside of rehearsal time
  • often rehearses after church choir rehearsals

School Choirs

  • members are students at Hope Lutheran School
  • include 3 choirs: Grades 1-2, Grades 3-5, and Grades 6-8
  • Each choir sings four to six times a year in worship.

Soloists

With rare exceptions, soloists for services are chosen from the membership of the various choirs.

  • consists of 13 ringers, playing five octaves of bells and chimes
  • rehearses in the Luther Room (107) from 7:00-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings from late August to late May
  • generally plays the first two services on one Sunday each month from September to May
  • plays repertoire chosen to highlight the appointed Scripture readings for each Sunday
  • plays at special services, including Christmas Eve and Advent or Lenten midweek worship
  • plays at the UMKC combined choirs Christmas concert in early December
  • welcomes substitute bell players
  • is directed by Nancy Strange

Handbell Ensemble
  • consists of members from the regular bell choir
  • rehearses in the Luther Room (107) from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings from late August to late May
  • often plays at the third service on the same Sunday as the Bell Choir plays

Instrumentalists
Instrumentalists

We welcome brass, woodwind, string players, and percussionists to enhance our worship with their skills. Opportunities include accompanying anthems and hymns or playing for voluntaries (preludes, offerings, and postludes), either individually or as part of an ensemble.
