4th Grade Newsletter – Summer Info

May 20, 2026

Thank you for all of the kind gifts, cards, and treats! We have had a lot of fun wrapping up this school year and are ready for summer break. We have also had the sad realization that we will miss being together and wish we had a bit more time. Thank you, again, for entrusting me with your children. May God richly bless and keep you and your family this summer. We will see you this fall!

Please note that Report Cards and Test Results will be sent home in the Thursday Folder following our Final Day Chapel (8:40 AM) and 8th Grade Send-off (around 10:45 AM). If your child’s Report Card is not in the folder, please stop in the office. We will use the regular pick-up procedure. Thank you!

Summer Reading List 2026-2027
At Hope Lutheran School, we value reading, and reading every day during the summer is important. Students at each grade level (1st – 8th grade) are REQUIRED to read books by August 21, 2026.

Please help your child get started on the required Summer Reading assignment for 5th grade. The students will need to stay in the habit of reading, so it is best to establish a daily/weekly routine right away. The class really enjoyed reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe this past quarter, and many of them are ready to read Prince Caspian or The Voyage of the Dawntreader, which are both on the list and part of the same Narnia series.

GOING INTO Fifth Grade

Write a three-paragraph summary of each book you read.  (12 font, double spaced or in your best handwriting.)

Lawn Boy by Gary Paulsen
Lawn Boy Returns by Gary Paulsen
