We hope to see you tonight, Thursday, February 6th from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm for Open House. Come and see what your child will be learning next year. We also look forward to the fellowship with our school family. See you there! We were able to celebrate our 100th Day of School today and feel so much smarter<\/em> than before! We are excited for the up-coming Super Bowl and most<\/em> of us are rooting for the Chiefs! We are also looking forward to Valentine’s Day and the chance to give each of our friends a kind note and maybe a sweet treat. There will be lots of smiles and maybe a few more hugs than usual being shared that day. \u2665\u2665\u2665<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cross-Curricular Project – International Fair<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are diving deeper into our study of France<\/em><\/strong> and prepare for the International Fair on April 29th! If you have any artifacts, souvenirs, experiences, etc. from France that you could share with us, please contact the teacher! More information will be coming about our plans and projects!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading\/ Spelling- <\/strong> This week we will continue studying poetry. We will begin reading Love That Dog<\/em><\/strong> by Sharon Creech<\/em>, which is a short novel written entirely as a poem. We will continue reading and writing poetry in the next couple of weeks. The class is excited to write and share their thoughts in poetry form! Please brace yourself for the creative genious that will be flowing from your child in the weeks to come!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Craft Supplies still needed-   We will still be needing wrapping paper tubes and paper towel tubes and will accept aluminum foil tubes, plastic wrap tubes, or carpet cardboard tubes for a project for 2nd semester.  Thank you for holding on to these items and sending them<\/strong> to school as soon as it is convenient for you – just, don’t throw them away! Thursday, February 13th <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For all this it is my duty to thank and praise, serve and obey Him.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multiplication Memorization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are going over the Multiplication Tables of 0 – 12 this quarter. Please practice the tables using flash cards, computer games, etc. so that your child can increase in speed and accuracy. We will be taking multiplication tests over each of the tables at the beginning next week. Your child will need to know each fact and answer in 2-3 seconds and will need to get a score of at least 100% to pass each timed test and move on to the next one. Students will be working to earn a special treat for passing each of the tests. <\/em>Please prepare your child to answer the multiplication tables of 6 – 8 for next week <\/strong><\/em>so that your child may test out of those tables. We will test on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valentine’s Day Party<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will be having our Valentine’s Day Party on Friday, February 14th from 2:30 – 3:20 pm<\/em>. Please be sure your child has a Valentine for each<\/em><\/strong> student in the class. A corrrected<\/em><\/strong> list of student names was sent home in last week’s Thursday Folder to be used when addressing Valentine’s. Please do not send a Valentine’s box this year because will be decorating Valentine mailbags and crafting with Mrs. Kruz in the classroom before the party. Please contact our room mothers Sarah Guild and Jill Griest if you would like to help out with games, treats, etc. Thank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Book-It <\/strong>Please continue recording your child’s minutes of reading outside of school. Be sure you and your child sign the completed calendar. <\/em><\/strong>Your child will receive a coupon for a Personal Pan Pizza<\/em> from Pizza Hut for meeting the 600-minute monthly goal! The February calendar was sent home in the Thursday folder to be completed and returned by Friday, <\/strong>March 7th.
