We are getting so excited to celebrate National Lutheran Schools’ Week<\/strong> <\/mark>this upcoming week, March 9th – 15th<\/mark>! We will start out on Sunday at church with 1st & 2nd singing in the 8:00 am service, Band A playing at 9:20 am in Concord Hall, and 3rd – 5th singing in the 10:30 service! Coffee will be served in the narthex before both services and treats will be served in Concord Hall between the services. We will look forward to a great turn-out and lots of fun fellowship! The flyer pertaining to all the fun events<\/em><\/strong> is attached below. We will end the week with Grandparents’ (Special Person Day) and Early Dismissal. We will also begin our Spring Break! Please be ready for the special dress days, and let’s ENDURE – Run the Race Looking to Jesus!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

HELP WANTED<\/em>:<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

+ New Carpet Preparation-<\/strong><\/mark> – <\/strong>We are getting new carpet in the classrooms! Please consider helping move some classroom furniture and supplies out of classrooms just following Grandparents’ Day on the 14th. We will come back from Spring Break with new carpet in each of the classrooms!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

+ Student Ushers<\/strong>\u00a0<\/mark>\u2013 The season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday and continues up until Easter. 3rd-4th grades have been asked to help with handing out service folders and ushering for the 4:00 Wednesday Lenten Services beginning on March 12th. This is an opportunity for the students to be involved in a way that they enjoy and can be of service to the congregation that supports our school in so many ways. Student helpers can stay with me after school, and I will accompany them to the sanctuary until after the service.\u00a0Please use this Sign-Up Genius to indicate which service(s) your child could be available to serve. Your child is not expected to serve every week, but please indicate any\/all weeks that it would be possible.\u00a0\u00a0Lenten student usher sign-up<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Braden’s Hope-<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 8th grade class is supporting Braden’s Hope by donating 50% of their Hope Honey sales and would like to do more! With our help they can make a bigger impact. Please consider ordering a Jersey Mike’s sub for your child to have for lunch on March 26th. The order forms came home in last week’s Thursday Folder. All of the proceeds from the sale of the sandwiches will be donated to Braden’s Hope. Orders are due on Wednesday, March 12th and no later. <\/em><\/strong> Thank you! Mite Boxes <\/strong>are came home in last week’s Thursday Folder. Please save your loose change and start filling your child’s mite box, which will be given as a special offering on Wednesday, March 26th. Please allow your child to participate in this mission project. Thank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4th Grade Field Trips:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have set the dates for our two 4th grade Field Trips! Please consider driving and chaperoning for one or both of these days: Tuesday, May 6th <\/strong>– Topeka – Capital Tour, Dome Tour, Brown vs. Bd of Ed. National Park<\/em><\/strong>
& Thursday, May 8th <\/strong>– DAY AT THE K<\/em><\/strong> – White Sox vs. Royals<\/strong> Look for more information and permission slips to be coming home soon!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cross-Curricular Project – International Fair<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will be learning to dance the minuet and will be wearing berets (black for boys and red for girsl) and scarves that will be purchased for the students. We would like the fourth graders to be ready to dress in white button shirts or blouses with black pants for the boys and red skirts for the girls. If anyone would like to coordinate this effort, please let the teacher know. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading\/ Spelling- <\/strong> This week we finish reading Hate That Cat<\/strong><\/em> by Sharon Creech and will continue our poetry unit. Your child will be completing a novel study workbook in the next two weeks. We will also be taking a Final Comprehension Test over the novel. We will be taking the test before Spring Break. There are no additional Vocabulary Words for your child to study for the test. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

God\u2019s name is kept holy when the Word of God is taught in its truth and purity, and we, as the children of God, also lead holy lives according to it. Help us to do this, dear Father in heaven! But anyone who teaches or lives contrary to God\u2019s Word profanes the name of God among us. Protect us from this, heavenly Father!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Multiplication Memorization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are still going over the Multiplication Tables of 0 – 12 this quarter. Please practice the tables using flash cards, computer games, etc. so that your child can increase in speed and accuracy. Students will be working to earn a special treat for passing each of the tests. <\/em>Please prepare your child to answer the multiplication tables of 9 – 12 for next week <\/strong><\/em>so that your child may test out of those tables. We will test on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. <\/strong>We should be done with the tables by the end of March. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Book<\/strong>–IT<\/strong> The February calendar is to be completed and returned by Friday, <\/strong>March 7th. Our LAST MONTH of BOOK-IT will be March! <\/em> The calendar was sent home in last week’s Thursday Folder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
