We truly enjoyed working on tying our blankets for the children at Children’s Mercy Hospital! Thank you so much to Janice and Jill for cutting fabric so that it was ready for tying! We have created cards to send along with the blankets. From April 7-12, our Hope students have the hands and feet of Jesus, serving local nonprofits while raising support for our school\u2019s technology program<\/strong>. THANK YOU for shariing your child’s special website with family and friends <\/em><\/strong>and allowing them the opportunity to support our school and raise your child’s donation amount. All donations for the Serve-a-thon are to be in by Friday, April 18th. <\/em><\/strong> This is more than a fundraiser\u2014it\u2019s a chance to make a lasting impact<\/strong> in our community!With every act of service, our students will be a light to others, and in the spirit of giving, 10% of all proceeds will be donated to one of the nonprofits we serve<\/strong>.Together, we can inspire generosity in our students, transform lives in our community, and strengthen our mission to be a beacon to others.<\/strong> Our 4th grade class is hoping to raise $2,750 <\/em><\/strong>to help purchase a laptop and dock.Let’s make it happen! Students will receive individual prizes for the donations they receive. The class with the highest donation will also receive a Silly String fight with the principal. If our entire student body raises our goal of $33,000, we will have a Day Off of school on Friday, April 25th<\/em><\/strong>, which is our snow make-up day. The students are busy planning for their International Fair projects. Each 4th grader is creating a diorama of a special landmark or famous place in France. The information and rubric was sent home in each child’s binder this week. Projects are due on Friday, April 25th<\/em><\/strong>. <\/mark>(If we reach our school-wide goal of $33,000 for the Serve-a-thon, we will push the due date of the project to Monday, April 28th.) Parents will receive a copy of the project information through email to use for reference. Thank you, parents, for all you are doing to support our activities for this busy quarter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student of the Week- VIP \/ Classroom Visits<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you to Sarah Guild<\/strong> for coming to share with the class and tell us more about Gabby<\/strong>! We enjoyed photos, stories, and Gabby’s famous homemade banana chocolate chip cake! It is so fun to see the parents’ and children’s faces light up with joy when they talk about their families! The entire class gains so much from this experience! Our 4th Quarter will go by quickly, and we want to be sure to honor each of our 4th graders and their VIP’s! 4th Grade Field Trips:<\/mark><\/strong> We have set the dates for our 4th grade’s two May Field Trips! Tuesday, May 6th <\/strong>– Topeka –<\/em><\/strong><\/mark> Capital Tour, Dome Tour, Brown vs. Bd of Ed. National Park<\/em><\/strong> & <\/strong> Thursday, May 8th <\/strong>– DAY AT THE K<\/em><\/strong><\/mark> White Sox vs. Royals<\/strong> . <\/mark>The permission slips for both trips are in your child’s Thursday Folders and should be signed and returned by Thursday, April 24th. Thank you!<\/mark><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cross-Curricular Project – International Fair<\/mark><\/strong>– We will be learning to dance the minuet and will be wearing berets (black for boys and red for girsl) and scarves that will be purchased for the students. We would like the fourth graders to be ready to dress in white button shirts or blouses (Short sleeves are fine and will suit the season.) with black pants for the boys and red skirts for the girls<\/strong><\/em>. This is required dress for the night of the International Fair, which is Thursday, May 1st.<\/mark><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAP TESTING – Please be sure your child is well-rested and has a healthy breakfast. Testing days are scheduled: April 23rd, 24th, 28th, and May 7th. <\/strong>Thank you!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading\/ Spelling<\/mark><\/strong> We plan to finish our next section of Wonder<\/em>, Parts 6 & 7, and take the test over it on Friday, April 25th. We do not have a new Spelling List due to no school on Easter Monday and projects due on Friday, April 25th. Our next and last part of the novel will be Part 8. We plan to have the test for Part 8 on Monday, May 5th. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
