We had so much fun sharing our sights and sounds and a taste of France with you at our INTERNATIONAL FAIR <\/strong>last week! Thank you to Lindsey and Joe Pedersen for supplying, making, and packaging all of our crepe samples to share with the school families! Thank you to our room moms, Sarah Guild and Laura Solt, for serving the crepes and for all you have done to organize our classroom parties. games, etc. all year! Thank you Steven Schebler for making the necessary connections and delivering our tied blankets and cards to Children’s Mercy Hospital to be given to those who need comfort and hope. Thank you to all of our parent drivers and chaperones who gave of their time, money, and energy to make our field trips such a success! We really had a great day in Topeka where we learned a lot, played a bit, made some great memories, and climbed to knew heights (- most of us literally climbed up to the top of the dome)! We will share our stories of the Royal vs. White Sox game and STEM learning next week! A special “Thanks!” to all of you for all of the kind and thoughtful things you have said and done for Teacher Appreciation Week. God bless you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student of the Week- VIP \/ Classroom Visits<\/mark><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We enjoyed our visit with Isaiah’s V.I.P.’s. Isaiah’s mom, Heather, explained her job with the USDA working with animal biologic\/vaccine licensing. Steven, Heather’s husband is a pharmacist at Children’s Mercy Hospital. They shared photos and stories about Isaiah and their family. We were treated with some fruit drinks mixed in little beakers and cookies shaped like syringes! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also had a great time meeting Oliver’s parents and his little brothers and littlest sister, Sam, Emma, & Drake who played with us and entertained us! Oliver’s school-aged sister, Vyla, was busy in her own classroom of 1st graders. We learned a lot about Oliver through photographs and stories told by his parents. Marshall renovates, builds, and does repares on structures, and Katie is a farmer, florist, and busy mommy! In our next newsletteer we will share about Owen’s V.I.P. It is so fun to see the parents’ and children’s faces light up with joy when they talk about their families! The entire class gains so much from this experience!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4th Grade Field Trips:<\/mark><\/strong> Let’s Go Royals!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAP TESTING – <\/strong>Most of our students are finished with the MAP testing. A few of the students will be finishing tests or making up tests they missed in the next few school days with Mrs. Haverkamp and Mrs. Stava.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading\/ Spelling<\/mark><\/strong> We will review our Wonder<\/em> – novel vocabulary words by playing Spelling BINGO next week. We will be watching the movie Wonder<\/em> in class on Friday, May 9th. Be sure to sign and return the permission slip for watching the movie with the class by Friday, May 9th.<\/strong> We will spend time next week completing the novel workbook and creating a special group poster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
