Week at a Glance<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n This week in science we are working on coding projects and listening to a presentation on Kansas agriculture. In social studies we are learning about national monuments and American culture. During math we are working on comparing and ordering numbers to 1000. We are learning about Lent in religion class and how it is a time of repentance as we learn about Jesus’ path to the cross. This week in language we are learning about possessive nouns and how they differ from plural nouns. In reading we are learning about diphthongs and informational text. This week we also had Step Up Day where we got to visit next year’s classroom and teacher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Schedule<\/span> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Library Books<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Each Thursday students have the option to check out books from the school library. Students are not permitted to borrow a new book until the previous book has been returned. School library books should be returned by Tuesday of each week so students can check out a new book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n KinderKonzert Field Trip<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Kindergarten-3rd grade will be attending the KinderKonzert on March 3rd. We will wear school uniforms for this event. Students will need to bring a sack lunch due the time timing of the performance. We will eat in the classroom when we get back to school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Please look for your child\u2019s permission slip in Thursday folders this week. We are in need of parent drivers for this event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All field trip drivers need to have the following documents on file with the school office:<\/p>\n\n\n\n If you are interested in driving for these trips, please indicate on the form which parent would drive and how many students you are able to drive. Thank you for supporting our class!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Open House<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Hope will have an Open House on Thursday, February 19th beginning at 5:30 pm. You are invited to meet next year\u2019s teacher and see your child\u2019s classroom for the upcoming year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Movie Night<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Please join us for movie night at Hope on February 26th at 5:30! We will be watching Zootopia 2. More information can be found on the event flyer going home in Thursday folders today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n History Fair<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Information will be coming soon for this year\u2019s curriculum fair. The focus this year is history. Second grade’s research focus is American inventors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Students will be responsible for a research project which will be completed mostly at school. Any aspects that must be completed at home will be shared in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cold Weather<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Please send your child with an appropriate jacket for each day\u2019s weather. Students are not permitted to go out for recess if they are not adequately dressed with a warm jacket.
