In language we are building our understanding of proofreading marks and possessive nouns. In math we are practicing rules for adding hundreds. In religion we are learning about Jesus\u2019 ministry. During social studies we are learning about aspects of American culture. In science we are continuing to learn about STEM and coding with robots. In handwriting we are learning cursive lowercase letters \u201cd\u201d and \u201cc\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Schedule<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 8 K-5th Choir Sing at 10:30am Service<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 9 Visit Book Fair<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 10 Wear Class Color Day &#8211; 2nd Grade wears green<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 13 Grandparents Day, End of 3rd Quarter, Early Dismissal 12 pm, NO ESC<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 13 Bates City BBQ Fundraiser<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 16-20 Spring Break<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 27 Powell Gardens Field Trip<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 29 K-2nd Grade Choir Sing at 10:30am Service<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">National Lutheran Schools Week<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hope will celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week March 8th-March 13th. The K-2 choir is singing at the 10:30 church service on March 8th. Your child\u2019s attendance is expected as part of their choir grade. If your child cannot attend please email myself and their choir director, Mrs. Heiss (heiss@hopelutheran.org).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week will be one of service, singing, and celebration. We are excited to celebrate being a Lutheran school. Please see the attached flyer for additional details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">K-2 Choir Performances<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The K-2 Choir will be performing on the following dates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 8 &#8211; 10:30 am Service<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 29 &#8211; 10:30 am Service<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your child\u2019s attendance is expected as part of their choir grade. Students have the option to bring cash or you can set up a digital wallet for them. Please let me know if you set up a digital wallet so I can help your student. The book fair will also be open on Grandparent\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Book Fair will be open during the following times:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 9th \u2013 11:30 \u2013 3:30 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 10th \u2013 9 \u2013 4:30 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 11th \u2013 11:30 \u2013 4:30 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 12th \u2013 1:00 \u2013 3:00 pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>March 13th \u2013 9:00 \u2013 11:30 am<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information and how to set up eWallet!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bookfairs.scholastic.com\/bf\/hopelutheranschool1\">https:\/\/bookfairs.scholastic.com\/bf\/hopelutheranschool1<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Permission Slips<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please check Thursday folders for permission slips for our next field trip. We will be going to Powell Gardens on March 27th. All students must have a booster seat in order to attend the field trip. We will be wearing uniforms. All students must bring a sack lunch to eat at school after the field trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All field trip drivers need to have the following documents on file with the school office:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>a current copy of insurance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>driver\u2019s license<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>background check<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Library Books<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each Thursday students have the option to check out books from the school library. Students are not permitted to borrow a new book until the previous book has been returned. School library books should be returned by Tuesday of each week so students can check out a new book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">History Fair<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Information will be coming soon for this year\u2019s curriculum fair. The focus this year is history. Second grade\u2019s research focus is American inventors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students will be responsible for a research project which will be completed mostly at school. Any aspects that must be completed at home will be shared in advance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Cold Weather<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please send your child with an appropriate jacket for each day\u2019s weather. Students are not permitted to go out for recess if they are not adequately dressed with a warm jacket.
