Compassion in Action (CIA)\u00a0represents the members of Hope in reaching out to those in need in our congregation and community.\u00a0 Among its service projects are: food drives to supply St. Luke’s and Good Shepherd Food Banks in KCK; Bibles and gifts for area Christmas stores; and Christmas and Easter baskets to our shut-ins.\u00a0 CIA provides financial support to those in need in the community through its support of Shawnee Community Center.<\/p>\n

Prayer requests are collected from members and sent our via email to any member wishing to include church prayers in their own private prayers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hope\u2019s Lutherans for Life Team is a Gospel-motivated group of church members that communicates and shares the abundant love of Christ, in life issues within the church, and outward into the community. Members are equipped through specialized training to be a relational conduit of expertise and practical resources pertaining to the multifaceted aspects of life ministry. Lutherans For Life started as the vision of a handful of Lutheran leaders in 1976, this initial work grew to the official launch of Lutherans for Life (LFL) in April of 1979. As a grassroots organization Lutherans for Life continues to help others live out their faith according to God\u2019s will and share the For Life message found in the life and gospel of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

Have you heard about Stephen Ministry? It is a long-standing Christian care ministry. Hope Lutheran Church has recently initiated this caring ministry in our congregation. The ministry is based on the hallmark Scripture verse found in Galatians 6:2…”Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” One way God fulfills His promise of his comforting presence is by providing Stephen Ministers to walk alongside those going through challenges such as job loss, illness, divorce, grief or other difficulty. Stephen Ministers provide a caring, supportive, non-judgmental, confidential relationship that enables care receivers to share their burdens. One of the most important principles of this program is upholding and honoring confidentiality.<\/span><\/p>\n
