Our school theme is “Connected” with our verse of “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.“–John 15:1-5.
Chapel offerings for 4th quarter will go to the Guatemala Mission Trip. Please encourage your child to bring offering each week. It is a good way for them to remember the blessings they have and to share those blessings with others. “Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.” Proverbs 14:31.

Science Fair – Thank you to everyone who came out to support our students at the Science Fair. We hope you were impressed with their hard work.

Zoo Field Trip – Tomorrow, our class will be spending the day at the Kansas City Zoo with our Kindergarten buddies. The students have made shirts to wear to the zoo. Students can wear jeans or uniform shorts that day and need to bring water bottles and a disposable sack lunch.

Washington DC Trip – We will have a parent meeting about the Washington DC Trip on Monday, May 6th at 5:45 pm in the Science Room. The meeting on May 6th is just for parents. We will go over travel information and answer any last minute questions.

Graduation Photo Boards – We will also be handing out your child graduation photo board during the Washington DC meeting. Photo boards need to be completed and returned to school by Monday, May 20th. Examples of past graduates’ boards will be available to view.

Finals – 8th Grade Finals schedule:
Tuesday, May 7th – Math
Wednesday, May 8th – Science
Thursday, May 9th – Language Arts/Spelling
Friday, May 10th – Geography/US History

Fine Arts Night – We are excited about the opportunity to showcase our Arts department on Thursday, May 9th at 6:30 pm.  Our music directors have worked with the students all year on music theory, rhythm, and voice.  During the evening, the choirs, bands, and recorders will be performing music, and the members of the Spring Play will perform a scene from The Pony Expresso.  Mrs. Bird’s art class projects will be displayed around the building, and families will be invited to an Open House where they can enjoy the art projects done by the students.

Only students who are in Band, the Spring Play, or have been assigned to help as emcee must attend. Students need to arrive at 6:15 pm and meet their teacher in their classroom. After the music performance, students return to their classrooms where the parents pick them up.  8th grade students are to wear white tops and black bottoms.  There will be a cookie reception after the program in the commons.

Art Projects – During Fine Arts Night, we will also have a Silent Auction with the class art projects.  You can bid on them using this link: Class Art Projects. Here is the 8th grade collaborative lion, colored with acrylic markers in a 18″ x 24″ black frame.
