Welcome to the 8th Grade Homeroom newsletter!
With the start of a new semester, I want to challenge my students to really listen for God’s voice. We have so many voices vying for our attention, but the only one that truly can guide and comfort us is the voice of Jesus. He is our Great Shepherd, leading us down the path of life. He wants us to trust and love Him as much as He loves us. Make time each day to just be still and listen. John 10:27-28
Our school theme is “Connected” with our verse of “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.“–John 15:1-5.
Chapel offerings will go to Comfort Dogs Ministry for 3rd quarter. Please encourage your child to bring offering each week. It is a good way for them to remember the blessings they have and to share those blessings with others. “Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.” Proverbs 14:31.
In Search Of…Connect 4 games for a National Lutheran Schools Week activity in January. If you have one that our class could borrow, please send it to school. We need 4-5 games for the activity. Thank you!
Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming! This time your child will be leading the conference by giving his/her summary of strengths and goals for this semester. Conferences will be held on Thursday, January 18 and Friday, January 19. National Lutheran Schools Week – The last full week of January we will be celebrating National Lutheran Schools Week. Your family is invited to attend church at Hope on Sunday, January 21 to help us kick-off NLSW. The Kindergarten through 2nd grade choir will be singing during the 8:00 service; and the 3rd-8th grade choirs and A Band will be performing during the 10:30 service. 7th & 8th grade students will be asked to serve as greeters and ushers during both services. It would be wonderful to see the church filled with Hope students and their families!
Outdoor Recess – Per our handbook policy on page 14, on most days, students will be expected to go outside for recess. Students must have a coat to go outside to recess if the temperature is 50 degrees or below; zippered hoodies are not considered coats. Hats and gloves are also recommended.
