“Building lives of excellence upon the foundation of Christ.” That’s Hope’s mission statement. In preparing for the Accreditation team’s visit, I’ve been reflecting on this statement quite a bit this year. I have no doubts that my students will be successful and have good lives, but I wonder about how strong a foundation they have in Christ. They are surrounded by statements of faith and hear about Jesus’s love every day in our classroom. Many students attend church every week and have gone through confirmation classes. But the pull of earthly pleasures is very strong nowadays, so I pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to work to keep each one of these students faithful to the Lord. I pray that they will always keep their hearts and minds rooted in God’s Word, and that they will remember that God’s grace and mercy are never ending.

Chapel offerings for 4th quarter will go to the Guatemala Mission Trip. Please encourage your child to bring offering each week. It is a good way for them to remember the blessings they have and to share those blessings with others. “Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.” Proverbs 14:31.

Students need to wear a polo shirt with uniform pants for the Grandparents Day program. No Spirit Wear shirts, hoodies, or fun socks.

BBQ Dinner Night – Following our Grandparents Day activities, families are invited to head over to Bates City BBQ for a fundraising event for the school. Hope Lutheran will receive 10% of all proceeds for Friday, March 8th. Bates City BBQ is located at 6493 Quivira Rd in Shawnee. This is a fundraiser for the Washington, DC trip.
