Newsletter – April 4th

April 3, 2024

“Alleluia, Christ is risen! Death at last has met defeat:
See the ancient powers of evil In confusion and retreat;
Once He died, and once was buried: Now He lives forevermore,
Jesus Christ, the world’s Redeemer, Whom we worship and adore.”
–LSB 477 “Alleluia, Alleluia! Hearts to Heaven”

Our school theme is “Connected” with our verse of “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.“–John 15:1-5.
Chapel offerings for 4th quarter will go to the Guatemala Mission Trip. Please encourage your child to bring offering each week. It is a good way for them to remember the blessings they have and to share those blessings with others. “Whoever oppresses a poor man insults his Maker, but he who is generous to the needy honors him.” Proverbs 14:31.

Graduation Gowns – Gowns will be sent home with your child today. Mrs. Adams will give you instructions on how to get them pressed. Please have gowns pressed and returned by Thursday, April 25th.

Science Fair Boards – Please return the letter with your decision about your child’s tri-fold board format by Monday, April 15th.

Olympic Day – Money for the lunch should be brought to school by Monday, April 22nd.

Read-a-thon – Our Read-a-thon begins on Monday!  Please make sure your child’s account is set up by then.  This is how friends and family will be able to make donations to the Read-a-thon and how we will track minutes read.  Use this link: Reader Account Sign-up (use code 3215668)
In addition to the rewards offered by the school for meeting goals, our class will have special incentives.  Our class is raising $2200 to purchase a new laptop for Mrs. Burgoon, one of our preschool teachers.  Please help us make this a successful fundraiser.

Movie Night – Student Council is hosting an outdoor movie night on Friday, April 12th in the school parking lot.  They will be showing the movie “Migration” starting at 8:30 pm.  It is a free event, you just need to bring your lawn chairs!

KAP Testing – Students will be taking the annual KAP test over Language Arts, Math, and Science soon.  This is an important test used to measure your child’s growth each year.  In an effort to have students take the test seriously and do their best, the middle school team is offering extra credit to students who improve their scores from last year.  You can help your student by encouraging them to put away electronic devices, get a good night’s sleep, and have them eat a filling breakfast before school.
KAP testing schedule:
Monday, April 15 – Language Arts
Wednesday, April 17 – Math
Friday, April 19 – Science
Monday, April 22 – Language Arts
Wednesday, April 24 – Math

Faith In Action – On Tuesday, April 16th, students in grades 4-8 will be going to Harvesters to help pack boxes of food as a servant event.  We will be taking buses to Harvesters.  Students should wear Hope spirit hoodie, jeans, and tennis shoes.  We will eat lunch in our classrooms when we return, so students will need to bring a sack lunch (hot lunch will not be an option).  The permission form needs to be returned by next Tuesday (April 9th).

Spring Play – The spring play is called The Pony Expresso and will be performed on April 18th at 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm. There will be a dinner in between the two performances.

Donuts with Dad – Bring your dad, grandpa, or uncle to Donuts with Dad on Friday, April 19th from 7:45 to 8:25 am. Come enjoy fellowship with other dads.

Talent Show – Hope’s annual Talent Show will be on Tuesday, April 23rd in the FLC at 2 pm.  If your student wants to participate, forms are due April 16th. The teacher and parent must sign the form. The entry form will be sent home in your child’s Thursday envelope this week.

Washington DC Trip – We will have a parent meeting about the Washington DC Trip on Monday, April 29th at 5:30 pm in the Science Room. Please add this date to your calendars as we will share information about trip expectations, transportation, itinerary, and “housekeeping” items. We have paperwork that needs to be completed at this meeting, so please plan to attend.

Graduation & Class Pictures – Graduation & Class Pictures will be on Thursday, May 2nd. To order online, go to http://inter-state.com/order and use order code: 80647N. Parents are welcome to come be in graduation pictures with your child.

Outdoor Recess – Per our handbook policy on page 14, on most days, students will be expected to go outside for recess. Students must have a coat to go outside to recess if the temperature is 50 degrees or below; zippered hoodies are not considered coats. Hats and gloves are also recommended.
