Kindergarten News 12/11

December 10, 2025

Hi all,

I hope you are having a blessed and productive week during this hectic and joy-filled time of year. The class has been doing very well as we navigate this busy season together.

Math:
We are continuing to explore shapes, with a strong focus on 3D shapes this week. The students are doing an impressive job, especially considering the higher-level thinking these concepts require.

Reading:
We are working on blends and wrapping up our final new letter sounds. We will not be reading a short story this week as we finish these essential skills.

Social Studies:
Our class has enjoyed learning about Washington D.C., and Abraham Lincoln.

Science:
We are finishing up our current unit over movement.

Handwriting:
Students are continuing to practice individual letters. Soon, we will transition to writing short words and sentences.

A big thank you to our wonderful Room Moms for organizing our class Christmas Party on Friday, December 19th. All parents are welcome to join! Our class and I are incredibly grateful for your creativity, hard work, and support.

    • The 8th grade class will host a dinner beforehand beginning at 4:45 pm.
    • If your child is unable to attend, please contact Mrs. Heiss at heiss@hopelutheran.org.
  • Please send chapel offerings each Wednesday. This quarter’s offerings support our Christmas Families. So far, students have generously raised $319.80.
  • As temperatures continue to drop, please remind your child to bring a jacket each day. Per Hope’s recess policy, students must have an additional layer when temperatures fall below 50 degrees. This must be a jacket, not a sweatshirt.
  • Labeling your child’s jacket with their name is greatly appreciated and helps us return misplaced items quickly.
