Athletes may participate in up to three individual events (two running\/one field, or one running\/two field).\u00a0 They cannot participate in three running events or three field events.\u00a0 Athletes may run in one relay event in addition to their individual events.\u00a0 *(Please watch this, it is the most common mistake on entries!)<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Divisions will be:\n

    1. 5th Grade Boys<\/li>\n
    2. 5th Grade Girls<\/li>\n
    3. 6th Grade Boys<\/li>\n
    4. 6th Grade Girls<\/li>\n
    5. 7th Grade Boys<\/li>\n
    6. 7th Grade Girls<\/li>\n
    7. 8th Grade Boys<\/li>\n
    8. 8th Grade Girls<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    9. Individuals may compete at or above grade level but not below.<\/li>\n
    10. Schools may enter ONLY <\/strong>three individuals in each track and field event for each division.<\/li>\n
    11. All event changes are to be done by noon on Thursday, May 9th<\/strong>.\u00a0 Changes will not be allowed after that time.\u00a0 No changes will be allowed the day of.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    12. There will be a coaches’ meeting at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11th<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    13. The Hope Lutheran Athletic Director must approve substitutions for relay teams due to injury.\u00a0 No other substitutions will be allowed after noon on Thursday, May 9th.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    14. No athletes will be added to the roster sheets at any of the event sites.\u00a0 Scratches are allowed.<\/li>\n
    15. Unless otherwise specified, we will follow the NFHS<\/a> rules for Track and Field including the 2024 rule updates.\u00a0 These can be accessed at NFHS.org<\/a>.<\/li>\n
    16. Participant changes deadline: Thursday, May 9th at noon.<\/strong>\u00a0 We will be doing lane assignments immediately after the deadline and all entrants must be in for the lane assignments to be fairly distributed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      If parents wish their child to remain anonymous, please do not enter their full name.\u00a0 The results database is searchable.\u00a0 Please ask if you have any questions regarding this.<\/strong><\/p>\n

      Event Notes<\/h1>\n

      1. All throwing events (discus, shot put, and turbo javelin) will be held behind the bleachers.<\/li>\n
      2. All grades of girls and boys will participate in discus, shot put, and turbo javelin.\u00a0 7th & 8th boys will throw a 8.8 lb (4 kg) shot; all other divisions throw a 6 lb. shot. Shots will be provided. A 300 g turbo javelin will be used. A 1 kg discus will be used.<\/li>\n
      3. Only the 100 meter dash has preliminaries.\u00a0 All other races will be run as finals.\u00a0 If there are not enough participants to run preliminaries, then the event will be run as finals.<\/li>\n
      4. The finals of the 100 meter dash will be determined by the best eight times.<\/li>\n
      5. Any false start is charged to the field and then any second false start results in a disqualification of that athlete.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        1. Spikes for a composition track will be permitted.\u00a0 These should be no longer than 1\/8″.<\/li>\n
        2. Starting blocks will be permitted but not provided.<\/li>\n
        3. No shade will be available, so bring sunscreen.\u00a0 Please dress for the weather as it could be very windy or chilly that day.\u00a0 There is a very large bleacher area for teams and families.<\/li>\n
        4. The time schedule is approximate times.\u00a0 Please be aware that the order of events is what is important not the time it is scheduled.\u00a0 We may run them ahead of schedule so make sure your athletes are prepared.<\/li>\n
        5. No one will be allowed in the center of the field.\u00a0 We would ask that your athletes stay totally out of that area to assist the timers.<\/li>\n
        6. Points are as follows:\u00a0 1st place = 10 points, 2nd place = 8 points, 3rd place = 6 points, 4th place = 4 points, 5th place = 2 points, 6th place = 1 point.<\/li>\n
        7. Individual ribbons will be given to the top six places in each event.\u00a0 Ribbons will be available for pickup after the event ends.\u00a0 We ask that one person per team be assigned to pick up ribbons at the end of the track meet.<\/li>\n
        8. We will follow the COVID protocols as set by Shawnee Mission North.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
