Third grade is a growing year! \u00a0We are working to develop good study habits, keeping track of assignments in our planners, turning in work on time, following written directions, and taking responsibility for our own actions. \u00a0Please encourage your young scholars, but let them learn by doing things for themselves. Support them, but don\u2019t take away their responsibilities. Celebrate their successes and show empathy when they fall and help them get back up to try again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planners\/Assignment Books \u2013<\/strong> One way to help your child is to review their planner with them each day. They should bring their homework folder home every day, even if they do not have any written homework left to finish. (Please note that homework should always come back to school with them the next day, even if it is not completed. They may be able to complete it at school and avoid having a late paper. If it is left at home to finish, the choice of a late assignment has already been made.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Redo assignments<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 assignments\u00a0to be redone have a percent less than 75%, or will have a note that says \u201cPlease redo\u201d. On a separate piece of paper, please have your student put their name, date, and assignment that is being redone. Both the original assignment and the redo need to be attached together and turned in by Mondays each week. Please contact me if there are any questions about the redo assignments. Redoing the assignments will help students to focus on problem areas and help them to prepare for testing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

40th Anniversary Celebration – <\/strong>Hope Lutheran School is celebrating 40 years of ministry on Saturday, September 9 from 4-7 pm.\u00a0 The school choirs and band will perform at the celebration.\u00a0\u00a0Kindergarten-2nd grade students should meet their teachers at the picnic tables at 4:45 pm.\u00a0 3rd-8th grade students should meet their teachers in the FLC commons at 4:45 pm.<\/strong>\u00a0The choirs will sing at 5:00 pm, and the band will perform after the choirs.\u00a0 Students will be dismissed from the picnic tables to parents after they perform.\u00a0 Students should\u00a0wear Hope shirts and appropriate shorts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parent\/Teacher Conferences<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Thank you to everyone who has already signed up for Parent\/Teacher Conferences. Conferences are scheduled for Thursday afternoon and evening on September 21st and again on Friday the 22nd. I am again including a link to a sign-up genius for our class. Please choose a slot that works for you. Please note that\u00a0these conferences are mandatory<\/strong>. If you have questions or cannot find any time that works for you, please contact me.

PTL Annual Open Meeting \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Monday, September 11 \u00b7 7:00 \u2013 8:00 pm in Concord Hall. Child care will be provided. Please come and hear about upcoming events and share your thoughts and ideas. PTL is parents and teachers working together to build community and make our school a great place for our school family!
