Thank you so much for the many thoughtful notes, supplies, and treats this week for Teacher Appreciation. I feel so very blessed to get to work with such great families and co-workers! I am very humbled by your generous words, thoughts, and gifts. It\u2019s always hard in May to realize that the time you spend every day with the kids you have grown to love and cherish is nearing an end!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tonight, May 9th \u2013<\/strong> Fine Arts Night<\/strong>
We are excited about the opportunity to showcase our Arts department.  Our music directors have worked with the students all year on music theory, rhythm, and voice.  During the evening, each choir will be performing.  Our bands and recorders, directed by Mrs. Eckhoff, will also perform.  Mrs. Bird\u2019s art class projects will be displayed around the building; families will be invited to an Open House where they can enjoy the art projects done by the students. 
Students will arrive at 6:15 pm and meet their teacher in their classroom. After the music performance, students return to their classrooms; parents pick them up.  
Students in Kindergarten \u2013 2nd grade are to wear their Sunday best.  The 3rd \u2013 8th grade students are to wear WHITE TOPS AND BLACK BOTTOMS. <\/strong>
There will be a cookie reception after the program in the commons. <\/strong>
In addition, we will also have a SILENT AUCTION <\/strong>with the class art projects.  You can start bidding on them today<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday, May 11th <\/strong>\u2013 Hope Track Meet<\/strong>
This is a big meet that Hope hosts every spring. This year it will be at the district stadium at Shawnee Mission North High School. It takes lots of people working together for this event. Even though students can\u2019t compete in track until 4th grade, you can still volunteer to help out. There are many different jobs to fill so you don\u2019t have to have knowledge about a certain event to be of service. You also do not need to be at the track all day. Even the kids can help by being \u201crunners\u201d to take results from an event up to the people who are keeping the stats! Sunday, May 12th \u2013 3rd\u20134th Grade Choir<\/strong>
The 3rd\u20134th Grade Choir is singing at the 10:30 am church service on Sunday, May 12th. Students are to wear their Sunday best. We will meet in the Luther Room at 10:15. Students will sit with their families, come forward to sing, and return to their families when they have finished singing. We pray everyone can join us for Mother\u2019s Day to hear their child sing! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

MAP Testing<\/strong>
We will continue taking our spring MAP tests through next week. Please make sure your student arrives on time to school, has a good breakfast, and gets plenty of sleep while we are testing.

Friday, May 17th \u2013 No School<\/strong>
Teachers are working on report cards. There is no school for students.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monday, May 20th<\/strong>
*Please send an extra bag to school with your student. We will be cleaning out lockers and desks throughout the week and backpacks seem to fill up quickly when finding all the “treasures” that have been left in the desks and lockers over the last semester. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, May 22nd \u2013 Field Day<\/strong>
We will be in our chapel family groups for field day. Be sure to have a water bottle and apply sunscreen in the morning before school!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday, May 22nd \u2013 Picnic<\/strong> Day<\/strong>
We will walk to Gum Springs Park together as a school to enjoy a picnic lunch. Look for the permission slip in today’s envelope for our end-of-the-year picnic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, May 23rd \u2013 Last Day!<\/strong>\u00a0
We will dismiss right after our closing chapel service that morning. Students will return to our classroom before dismissal from 10:45 \u2013 11:00. Parents are welcome to attend chapel and awards!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
