This is such a busy time of the year! Thank you for taking the time to read our weekly newsletter! Here’s a glance at the week, upcoming events, and important information:
Field Trips:
- Please make sure your student is returning their field trip permission forms to me. Our TimberRidge permission slips are due by next Friday (Sep 5th)! We could still use more volunteers to drive if you are available. Here are the dates for our field trips:
- TimberRidge Adventure Center: September, 23rd
- Lutheran High School: October, 23rd
MAP Testing:
- We have MAP testing this week and next! Please make sure your child is prepared by getting enough sleep and eating breakfast.
- Thursday, August 28 – MATH – 9:35 – 11:00
- Friday, August 29 – READING – 9:35 – 11:00
- Wednesday, September 3 – LANGUAGE – 9:35 – 11:00
- Friday, September 5 – SCIENCE – 11:30 – 1:00
Math:
- 8th Grade: We will have a quiz next Friday for lessons 1-6.
- 7th Grade: We will have a quiz on Monday for lessons 1-6.
Science:
- Our science test has been moved to next Wednesday, September 3rd due to the half day and MAP testing. We will begin our first unit, Force and Motion on Friday!
Hyvee Sacking for Tips:
- Planned for 11/16 and 11/18
- Sunday 11/16- Planning to meet there after service around 10:30. Should be done around 3:00 or when the crowds start to dwindle down because of the Chiefs game at 3:25.
- 11/18- 10 am- 4 pm, or drop-in when you are available.
Student Council:
- Permission slips will be sent home with students interested in joining Student Council, please make sure to sign and send back if you would like your child to participate
- 8th grade may run for: President, Vice-President, or as a Representative
- Campaigning will be Sep 8th-11th
- Speeches will be on Thursday, Sep 11th at 2:00 during the Pep Rally followed by the voting process
Shawnee Mission Northwest Highschool
- There is an invitation for your students to visit Shawnee Mission Northwest Highschool!
- Private School Visit- “Discover Northwest”: Monday, Oct 6th from 8:00 AM- 9:00 AM. Students and parents may attend a welcome session, FAQ, and tour.
- Shadow Days: Friday, Sep 19th and Thursday, Sep 25th
