Newsletter Sept. 7

September 6, 2023

We are taking our fall MAP testing right now, this is a good baseline to see if the students are growing throughout the year. This is also good practice for finals, so they are used to using a computer and are in the correct testing mindset. It’s been great seeing everyone’s school spirit this week and I am excited to see everyone Saturday 9/9 at the 40th anniversary bash.

Our school theme is “Connected” with our verse of “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.“–John 15:1-5.

Chapel offerings will go to LeadaChild for 1st quarter.

Eligibility – Starting 9/12 make sure your student has at least a 75 so they can be eligible for extracurricular activities include all athletic, Spring Play, and non-athletic school sponsored clubs. Band, Chess Club, and Lego Club are excluded from eligibility requirements.

Student Council – Students planning on running for student council will need to bring in a maximum of three posters due by September 8th, for Mrs. Jankowski to approve. Student speeches will be due Tuesday September 12 to Mrs. Jankowski for approval. Parents are welcome to attend the speeches in the sanctuary on September 13, at 2:30 pm.

You will receive your child’s mid-term progress report at the conference. It is important that we meet with parents of all full-time students. Homeschool parents, please contact me to set up a time to meet on a different day please. Use this link to select a time that works for you: Middle School Conference Sign-up

Field Trips – We have two field trips coming up. Our first field trip is September 19. The 7th and 8th graders will be going to Garnett, KS to tour an Ethanol plant and the Anderson County Historical Museum, and Harrison House. We have received a grant to pay for a bus, so we do not need parent drivers for this field trip. Students need to wear their normal school uniforms, and to bring a sack lunch with water bottle.

The second field trip is at Timber Ridge on Tuesday, September 26. Thank you to everyone who volunteered to drive/chaperone. Students need to wear their P.E. uniforms, bring a sack lunch, and water bottle.

If you have any questions feel free to email me at any point, I will get back to you within 24 hours. If you need to talk to me in person, please email me so we can set up a day and time to meet.
