Newsletter 5/2

May 1, 2024

Today is our last MAP test of the year. In 2 weeks the 7th grade will take their finals.

Our school theme is “Connected” with our verse of “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.“–John 15:1-5.

Chapel offerings – Will go to the Guatemala mission trip. Please encourage your student to bring an offering.

MAP testing schedule:
Thursday 5-2 Science

Finals – 7th Grade Finals will be the week of May 13-16.

Washington Trip – Our meeting has to be rescheduled again, I will update you when it has been rescheduled.

Class Pictures – Class Pictures will be on Thursday, May 2nd. We are still working to finalize a schedule, but details will be shared as soon as possible.  To order pictures online, go to http://inter-state.com/order and use order code: 80647N.

Fine Arts Night – We are excited about the opportunity to showcase our Arts department on Thursday, May 9th at 6:30 pm.  Our music directors have worked with the students all year on music theory, rhythm, and voice.  During the evening, the choirs, bands, and recorders will be performing music, and the members of the Spring Play will perform a scene from The Pony Expresso.  Mrs. Bird’s art class projects will be displayed around the building, and families will be invited to an Open House where they can enjoy the art projects done by the students.

Students need to arrive at 6:15 pm and meet their teacher in their classroom. After the music performance, students return to their classrooms where the parents pick them up. There will be a cookie reception after the program in the commons.

Art Projects – During Fine Arts Night, we will also have a Silent Auction with the class art projects.  You can bid on them using this link: Class Art Projects.

Chromebooks – Make sure your student is charging their laptops every night. Students are unable to charge their Chromebooks while at school, so it is important they are charging them while at home. We have noticed an increase in 7th grade Chromebooks coming to school insufficiently charged. Therefore, we have updated our Chromebook policy. If students come in and their laptop is not charged, they will miss recess, if this continues, the third time they come in without their laptop charged, they will have a silent lunch. If there is a problem with your students laptop, they need to email the technology department or notify their classroom teacher, so that we can get the issue resolved.

Candy Policy – Please make sure that your student is not bringing any candy for lunch or a snack.

Religion – Make sure your student is bringing their Bibles and Luther’s Small Catechism to school.

Tests/Quizzes – Make sure your student is holding onto their tests and quizzes for each class, they are good study tools for the finals in two weeks.

OUTDOOR RECESS POLICY
Per our handbook policy on page 14, on most days, students will be expected to go outside for recess.  If the following conditions exist, the students will not be taken out except to get a few minutes of fresh air:

  • The temperature is 15 degrees F (-13 C) or below.  The wind chill index is 0 (-18 C) or below.
  • There is significant falling moisture.
  • Teachers may take their classes out briefly for fresh air at their discretion.
  • Students must have a jacket/coat to go outside to recess if the temperature is 50 degrees or below; hoodies are good for Middle School Students if it is 50 degrees or warmer.
