8th Grade Newsletter August 29

For the carnival this year, the 8th grade has been asked to come up with 2 carnival games. Talk to your students about what games they really enjoy playing, and to bring their ideas to school on Friday so we can discuss them and choose two.

M.A.P. Testing – The 8th graders start their M.A.P. testing today, please be sure that they are getting a good night sleep, and that they are eating a good breakfast in the morning, this will help them to preform their best.

Thursday, September 5 – Math

Thursday, August 29 – Science

Friday, August 30 – Reading

Tuesday, September 3 – Language

D.C. Fundraiser –

9/14 – During the carnival, the students will be fundraising for the D.C. trip.

Fall Carnival – The 8th graders will be busy during the fall carnival. They will help sell tickets, work the D.C. fundraiser, sell honey that they have bottled, and work the 2 carnival games they choose this week. Be on the lookout for the sign-ups that will be coming out.

Room Parents – I’d like to thank Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Schmitz for being the room parents again this year. The fall carnival and auction are coming up, be on the lookout for emails from them letting us know what they need for the fall carnival and the 8th grade basket.

Dress Code – There are a few changes this year, so please review the handbook so that your child comes dressed appropriately each day.

Eligibility – Eligibility starts next week, make sure your student has at least a 75 so they can be eligible for extracurricular activities include all athletic, Spring Play, and non-athletic school sponsored clubs. Band, Chess Club, and Lego Club are excluded from eligibility requirements.

World History 4/17

The 6th graders this week have been reviewing Ancient China, getting ready for our test today. We are going to start our last 2 chapters when we get back from Easter Break. Our last Chapters will be Chapter 11 and 12, both of which deal with the Romans.
