D.C. Trip –

Dear 8th Grade Parents,

We are excited to begin preparations for our upcoming Washington, D.C. trip! Due to travel arrangements and our partnership with another Lutheran school, the trip has been rescheduled to May 5th–8th. On Friday, May 9th, the students will have a day off.

A packet of important paperwork will be sent home in this week’s Thursday packet. Please review, complete, and return all necessary forms by Thursday, February 27th.

We will hold a parent meeting on Tuesday, April 15th, at 5:30 PM in the 7th-grade classroom to go over trip details and answer any questions. Miss Mondary and I will be the chaperones accompanying the students.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to a fantastic trip!

International Fair – I have found a German costume on amazon that I believe will work. I have asked Mrs. Jankowski to order one to see what it is like and to test it on different 8th graders. If that costume works, I will let you know if there are any additional pieces that the students will wear.

Eligibility – Make sure your student has at least a 75% so they can be eligible for extracurricular activities include all athletic, Spring Play, and non-athletic school sponsored clubs. Band, Chess Club, and Lego Club are excluded from eligibility requirements.

Memory:

March 3
What does such baptizing with water indicate?
It indicates that the Old Adam in us should by daily contrition and repentance be
drowned and die with all sins and evil desires, and that a new man should daily
emerge and arise to live before God in righteousness and purity forever.

Where is this written?
St. Paul writes in Romans, chapter six: “We were therefore buried with Him through
baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the
glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” (Romans 6:4)

March 5
Romans 6:5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall
certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
Titus 1:9 (p. 33) He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may
be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict
it.
Hebrews 13:7 (p. 34) Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of
God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.
