Congratulations to Sada who was the runner up in the all school geography bee. The end of the 3rd quarter is coming up, next week, make sure that you have all missing work turned in.

Our school theme is “Connected” with our verse of “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.“–John 15:1-5.

Chapel offerings – Will go to Comfort Dogs Ministry. Please encourage your student to bring an offering.

Spring Play – Mrs. McIntosh will be our drama coach for our 7th/8th grade Spring Play.  Rehearsals will be during school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:15-4:00 pm. The spring play is called The Pony Expresso and will be performed on April 18-19. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Mcintosh at mcintosh@hopelutheran.org.

Tri-Fold BoardsStudents may start purchasing their Science Fair tri-fold boards from the office.  Boards are $6 each and come in colors: red, blue, yellow, and green.  Colors are available on a first come, first served basis.  Boards must be purchased by April 7th.

DEAR Time – We will be celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday on Friday, March 1st with Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) time.  Students will need to have a book to read in class.  Students are also encouraged to bring a stuffed animal to snuggle with during our DEAR time.

Scholastic Book Fair BOOK FAIR WILL BE OPEN DURING THE FOLLOWING TIMES
Sunday, March 3rd – 9-11 am
Monday, March 4th – 8-9 am
Tuesday, March 5th – 11-noon, 3-5 pm
Wednesday, March 6th – 12:00-3 pm
Thursday, March 7th– 8-9 am, 11-noon, 3-5 pm
Friday, March 8th– 10 am-1 pm – Grandparents Day

The 7th grade class will be visiting the book fair on Tuesday, March 5th.  Students are encouraged to bring money to purchase books during that time. I have also created an e-wallet, here is the link McCarthy e-wallet.

Grandparent’s Day – On Friday, March 8th, grandparents and other special people are invited to join us for a program in their honor. The program begins at 9:00 am in the FLC and will be followed by activities with the students in their classrooms.  This program is for our students to honor their grandparents and other special people in their lives.  We ask that parents do not attend unless you are volunteering to help at the event.

Bates City BBQ – Following our Grandparents Day activities, families are invited to head over to Bates City BBQ for a fundraising event for the school. Hope Lutheran will receive 10% of all proceeds for Friday, March 8. Bates City BBQ is located at 6493 Quivira Rd in Shawnee.

Washington Trip – We will have a parent meeting about the 8th Grade Washington Trip 2025 on March 19th at 5:30 pm in the Science Room. Please add this date to your calendars as we will share information about the trip, cost, and fundraising. Mrs. Eckhoff will bring her photo books of past trips for you to view.

Chromebooks – Make sure your student is charging their laptops every night. Students are unable to charge their Chromebooks while at school, so it is important they are charging them while at home.

Candy Policy – Please make sure that your student is not bringing any candy for lunch or a snack.

Religion – Make sure your student is bringing their Bibles and Luther’s Small Catechism to school.

Tests/Quizzes – Make sure your student is holding onto their tests and quizzes for each class, they are good study tools for the finals in May.

OUTDOOR RECESS POLICY
Per our handbook policy on page 14, on most days, students will be expected to go outside for recess.  If the following conditions exist, the students will not be taken out except to get a few minutes of fresh air:

  • The temperature is 15 degrees F (-13 C) or below.  The wind chill index is 0 (-18 C) or below.  
  • There is significant falling moisture.
  • Teachers may take their classes out briefly for fresh air at their discretion.
  • Students must have a jacket/coat to go outside to recess if the temperature is 50 degrees or below; hoodies are good for Middle School Students if it is 50 degrees or warmer.
