8th Grade Newsletter 4/3

April 2, 2025

Serve-A-Thon start this week, please encourage your 8th grader to participate, we need each 8th grader to raise $250 to meet our class goal.

D.C. Trip –

Dear 8th Grade Parents,

We are excited to begin preparations for our upcoming Washington, D.C. trip! Due to travel arrangements and our partnership with another Lutheran school, the trip has been rescheduled to May 5th–8th. On Friday, May 9th, the students will have a day off.

A packet of important paperwork will be sent home in this week’s Thursday packet. Please review, complete, and return all necessary forms by Thursday, February 27th.

We will hold a parent meeting on Tuesday, April 15th, at 5:30 PM in the 7th-grade classroom to go over trip details and answer any questions. Miss Mondary and Mrs. Jankowski will be the chaperones accompanying the students.

If you have any questions in the meantime, please feel free to reach out. We look forward to a fantastic trip!

Serve-A-Thon – This year, in an effort to increase 8th grade participation, the 8th graders will be raising money for LUMA, where Pastor Cook works. The 8th graders have a class goal of $3,750, that is about $250 a student. If we meet this goal, the 8th graders will get a movie day and an extra recess. In the process of raising the $250, the students will earn a non-uniform day at $100 raised, and make a sundae when they raise $200.

International Fair Costume – I have found a German costume on amazon that I believe will work. Students will need a white shirt to wear under the costume.

International Fair Room Moms – I will need your help for the International Fair. I will need help passing out food and stamping passports. If you could trade off every at 30 minutes and help me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Eligibility – Make sure your student has at least a 75% so they can be eligible for extracurricular activities include all athletic, Spring Play, and non-athletic school sponsored clubs. Band, Chess Club, and Lego Club are excluded from eligibility requirements.

I Corinthians 13:13 So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of
these is love.

John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I
have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that
you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

1 Timothy 2:1-3 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and
thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions,
that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This
is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,

1 Peter 2:13-14 Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be
to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who
do evil and to praise those who do good.
