VISUAL ARTS PROGRAM

The Visual Arts Program at Hope Lutheran School supports the National Standards for Visual Arts and the Kansas State Standards for Visual Arts. Students in grades 1-8 participate in weekly formal art instruction. They will experience drawing, painting, sculpture, graphic design, collage, pottery and other art forms using high quality tools and materials including “green” media. Creativity and effort are stressed.

The student learns about media, background, history, and processes, how to work independently and with others and how to respect others’ ideas and self evaluate. Each is taught to perceive, interpret, and respond to ideas, experiences, and the environment through visual art. Some highlights include:Paints

  • Imaginary 3D drawing
  • Design font for Bible verse poster with illustration
  • Watercolor still life
  • Clay sculpture and hand built pots (extruder & slab roller)
  • Cartooning and caricatures
