General Information
Week 14 of band class is complete! Welcome to the month of December! I am glad everyone was able to safely navigate the snow on Monday. These last few weeks of school are going to be busy ones so I hope you are ready!
Announcement: A Band: we will play the National Anthem at the girls game at 5pm Friday. I need everyone there by 4:45 if they are not involved in basketball or cheer. On Saturday, we will play at 8am for the boys game. I need everyone there by 7:45 if you are not involved in basketball or cheer. If you are involved in basketball or cheer, your coach will dismiss you to me for the anthem and then I’ll send you back to them when we are done.
Advanced Band
Welcome back everyone! We have a lot going on for A band in these next few weeks. We started out great with our first performance for the Candy Cane Cafe on Tuesday. This Thursday afternoon is a pep rally and then this weekend is the basketball tournament. I listed the call times for the tournament above. On Sunday, we are playing prelude music for the 8am service. I need everyone there by 7:45. If you absolutely cannot make it, please send me an email ASAP. We will start playing around 7:55.
All of our Christmas music is coming along really well and I am excited for you to hear them at all of our upcoming performances!
Next week we have a couple performances as well. On Tuesday, we will play again for the Candy Cane Cafe. Friday December 12th, we will also be playing at the car dealership caroling event. I will be transporting all the instruments and stands over there myself. I will have students leave all their instruments and music in the music room that Thursday so it is easy for me to grab it all.
For the Christmas program, we will not rehearse until the dress rehearsal with the whole school.
4/5 Grade Band
Welcome back! We are in full preparation mode for our performance this upcoming Sunday. We are playing prelude for the 10:30 service. I need everyone there by 10:15. Percussion equipment and stands will be there so they just need to bring their instruments and music. We will start playing around 10:25. Please email me ASAP if your student cannot make it.
5th grade worked on Good King Wenceslas and percussion learned a new instrument to play along with the song. I will be assigning percussion parts for our Sunday performance on Thursday in class.
4th grade also worked on Good King Wenceslas and percussion learned the new instrument. We also reviewed how to count rhythms through speaking and clapping as well as note reading.
Please continue to encourage your students to practice at home as this gives them the best chance to excel in class.
