General Information

Week 15 of band class is complete and man was it a busy one! This past week we had many performances and the students really stepped up to the challenge. Fantastic job to everyone that participated in the basketball tournament this weekend as well as our church service performances! Everything went really well and I am looking forward to continuing our momentum through these last couple weeks of the semester.

Announcement: A Band: we are signed up to play during the December 17th Advent church service. There is not a prelude scheduled so I am not sure on when we are playing in the service yet, but please let me know if you absolutely cannot make it.

Advanced Band

Wow this week was busy! Thank you again parents for getting your students to school and church on time this past weekend! The basketball game on Friday went really well despite the short notice on learning they were playing for the whole game. Pep band can be a fun experience and I am glad the students got to have the chance. The National Anthem performances also sounded amazing. We have a few more performances to get through before break, but after this successful weekend, I know the students are ready for them.

We have continued with our caroling on Tuesday mornings for the Candy Cane Cafe. We play from 8:10-8:20 so if your student normally has breakfast at school, make sure they know they have less time on Tuesdays.

This Friday is our school caroling event at the Ford Dealership. I will be having the students leave their instrument and music with me Thursday so I can transport them over on Friday.

4/5 Grade Band

Fantastic job everyone who was able to make it to our Sunday morning performance! The group sounded great and was adaptable to the slight changes we made to make sure we could sound our best.

5th grade did a constructive listening assignment/discussion in class on Monday. We listened to a professional group play a piece and discussed what we heard, felt, and thought of the piece. We also looked at Jingle Bells on pg. 12. This piece introduces the idea of first and second endings when repeating.

4th grade also did the constructive listening assignment/discussion in class. We then switched over to working on our counting. We marched in place to set a steady beat and then practiced long tones while counting our steps. This then helped them feel the quarter note rhythms of Good King better when we rehearsed that after.

This group will also play a song before the all school sing a long next week along side A Band. It will be Good King Wenceslas.
