General Information
Welcome back to school everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed a restful break and had a wonderful holiday. Week 1 of class is now complete and we are off to a great start! The students are all recalling what we learned last semester and we are working forward to more growth. The Christmas program has been rescheduled to tonight at 6pm, and I am excited for you all to hear what the students have been working so hard on. We have lots of fun performance opportunities coming up this semester so please check out the dates listed below and add them to your calendars!
Announcement: Christmas program date change: January 8th at 6pm, call time is 5:45pm. We play before the program starts so please be on time!!!
Advanced Band
Welcome back to band everyone! I am so incredibly proud of this group and all of the work you have continued to put into your learning. Despite having two weeks off of your music, you have recalled it all really well and I am looking forward to our performance tonight for the Christmas program. We will be playing Joyous Christmas and the Chipmunk Song.
We are also starting to look forward into our upcoming performances this semester. We did a trail run of a piece called Epic Venture on Wednesday and I think it could be a great fit for the group. It will work on part independence while playing. There are 4 written parts that can be assigned to any instrument so while the music itself is simpler, not always playing the same thing as their neighbor encourages them to be more independent. This is something I think the group can really benefit from.
4/5 Grade Band
Welcome back to band everyone! I am so excited to continue working with your students this semester as we learn more and more about music and how to play our instruments. This semester we have two major performances which are Grandparents Day and Fine Art Night. I do not have music selected for either of these yet, but I will let you know as soon as I do.
5th Grade: I did not get to see 5th grade this week due to the Christmas program rehearsal, but I am looking forward to seeing them next week!
4th Grade: On Tuesday we did some note reading review on their Chromebooks as well as piano key reading. Learning how to identify the keys on a piano is beneficial overall, but especially important for percussion players as we will be learning how to play the bells this semester and they are set up just like a piano.
