General Information
Week 6 of class is now complete! This week we continued our work on preparing for the upcoming Grandparents day performance as well as our March 8th church performance. Each group is doing a great job stepping up to the challenges I have been giving them in class and I am looking forward to our March performances.

Advanced Band
This week we continued to work on Epic Venture and Africa. I also made the decision to bring back Down to the River to be the other piece performed with Epic Venture in April. The Sound of Music music finally came in and went out on Tuesday. It is not the most challenging piece they have ever played, but they have the added challenge of how late it arrived compared to our performance date. I have full faith though that this group will have no troubles learning this piece fast enough to be performance ready by March 13th.
I still do not have a date set with my professors, but I am trying to schedule it during the week of April 6th-10th since that was the original time line we had in mind. If none of those dates work though, we will plan for something after the 8th graders come back from DC.
4/5 Grade Band
Please make sure your students have their instruments and books for class!! Everything we are doing in class this semester requires them to have an instrument everyday of class.
Band Olympics: The students have really taken to all the Olympic challenges I have given them with lots of excitement. So far every team has earned medals in our note name races, posture challenge, and rhythm math.
5th Grade: This week we worked on reviewing exercises on page 10 in the red books which introduces a new note. Percussion also was introduced to playing bells on Thursday during sectional time.
4th Grade: This week we worked in the red book on pages 8 and 9. They are becoming more confident in reading music and playing all the new rhythms. Percussion also was introduced to playing bells on Thursday during sectional time.
