General Information
Week 9 of class is now complete! One more week of school and then we have spring break! Next week is full of performances for both groups, but we have made tons of progress in class this week so we are going into it with lots of momentum. We started our Disney March Madness this week and the students seem to be enjoying the song choices. We will continue to go through our bracket as the month progresses.
Announcement: A Band Parents: call time on Sunday is 9am!!! We are performing at 9:20 for the Sunday school hour. Please let me know if you absolutely cannot make it.
Advanced Band
This week we worked on Sound of Music, Epic Venture, Lion King, and All Glory, Laud and Honor. Sound of Music is sounding amazing. The students really stepped up to the shorter rehearsal time challenge since the piece came in so late and I am incredibly proud of them. I hope all our visitors next week enjoy hearing all the hard work they have put into learning this piece. Lion King is for Fine Art Night and presents a step up in difficulty level. There are some brand new notes and rhythms introduced in this piece that the students will learn. Please encourage them to practice this one at home!
Glory, Laud, and Honor will be our song for Sunday morning. I handed it out earlier this week and they picked it up quickly.
A date has been confirmed with my college professors for when they can come in to act as competition judges for us in April! On April 8th at 7:30 they will come in and listen to our group perform and then workshop with them afterwards. Please make sure your student is on time for this day!!
4/5 Grade Band
Please make sure your students have their instruments and books for class!! Everything we are doing in class this semester requires them to have an instrument everyday of class.
This week we continued to work on perfecting Itsy Bitsy Spider. We are playing it two times through so it is building up their endurance. From Now On was also passed out on Thursday. This piece will push some students, so please make sure they are practicing!! We might not perform the whole piece, but I want to give them this opportunity to perform full sheet music instead of just short exercises from their books.
5th Grade: This week we practiced our endurance by playing through Itsy Bitsy multiple times. We also learned a new rhythm: 8th notes. These are introduced on page 14 in their books. I would love it if they continue to work on this page at home.
4th Grade: This week we practiced our endurance by playing through Itsy Bitsy multiple times. We also learned a new rhythm: 8th notes. These are introduced on page 14 in their books. I would love it if they continue to work on this page at home.
