General Information

Week 11 of class is now complete! Welcome back from Spring break everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing week off from school. We are jumping right back into learning this week as our final performances are starting to come up quick. We still have lots to work on and I am excited to see how much the students continue to grow as we wrap up the year.

Advanced Band

Fantastic job on our Grandparents Day performance!! The group sounded amazing and we received lots of compliments.

This week we shifted our focus off of Sound of Music and back onto Down to the River, Epic Venture, and Lion King. The first two will be what we perform for our in school competition on April 8th. Please make sure your student is on time for class that day so we can get started as soon as possible. Lion King is going to be one of our pieces for Fine Art Night. In this one, we are working on learning the new rhythms of triplets and various 16th note patterns. There are also some fun syncopation spots in this piece. Please encourage your student to look at these slowly at home to make sure the notes are all correct.

A date has been confirmed with my college professors for when they can come in to act as competition judges for us in April! On April 8th at 7:30 they will come in and listen to our group perform and then workshop with them afterwards. Please make sure your student is on time for this day!!

4/5 Grade Band

Please make sure your students have their instruments and books for class!! Everything we are doing in class this semester requires them to have an instrument everyday of class.

Congratulations on a great first big performance on Grandparents Day! This group has really come a long way from August.

This week we got our official parts for From Now On. This will be our Fine Art Night piece that we will play with A Band. We also have a church performance on May 3rd, that I am working on picking a book exercise for. This exercise will likely also be played for Fine Art Night.

5th Grade: This week I passed out From Now On to everyone so we could start looking at it. Our main focus is measure 39- the end. We will be working on learning a few more new notes introduced here as well as gaining confidence on playing 8th notes.

4th Grade: This week I passed out From Now On to everyone so we could start looking at it. Our main focus is measure 39- the end. We will be working on learning a few more new notes introduced here as well as gaining confidence on playing 8th notes.
