General Information
Week 12 of class is now complete! With KAP testing this week, 4th and 5th grade did not get to meet like normal this week. A Band did get to meet like normal and we are mostly focused on our band competition next week. As we go in Easter break this weekend, I hope you all get to have a relaxing weekend celebrating our risen Lord.
Announcement: A Band Parents: I will be sending a separate email with more information regarding our band competition next week. Please look out for it.
Advanced Band
This week we focused in on detail work in Down to the River and Epic Venture. These two are what we are performing next week so we have really buckled down and worked on them this week. In Down to the River, we are working on shaping our phrases as musically as possible. Breathing separate from our neighbors and following the unwritten dynamics in our parts are some of the concepts we worked on. In Epic Venture, we are working on maintaining our momentum throughout the whole piece and making sure each 8th note entrance is heard. This piece has 4 parts that all have their own melodic ideas happening simultaneously so it has been a fun challenge learning how to make sure everything is heard. We also spent some time on Lion King this week. There are lots of fun songs in this piece, but they each have new complex rhythm patterns for various parts. Please encourage your students to look at these parts at home.
Next week is our band competition during class on Wednesday April 8th. I need full group attendance for the best possible sound. Please make sure your student is here on time!
4/5 Grade Band
Please make sure your students have their instruments and books for class!! Everything we are doing in class this semester requires them to have an instrument everyday of class.
This week I only got to see 5th grade on Monday due to KAP testing.
5th Grade: This week we went over the Promenade song I told them to put bar lines in last week. Then we jumped ahead in the book to pgs. 23 and 24. These pages introduce the new note in From Now On.
4th Grade: We did not get to meet this week. Please encourage your student to look at the Promenade song in their Red Books.
