General Information
Week 4 of class is now complete! This week was a fairly normal week of learning. All classes are continuing their progress well and more music has been selected for all our upcoming performances. Please make sure you let me know if your student has to miss a practice or performance this semester as it is becoming increasingly important that I have everyone present for performances to sound their absolute best. Also please make sure your student remembers to bring their instruments to school each week!! I have had a few forgetting multiple weeks now.
Announcement: A Band parents: please be on the lookout for an email from Mrs. J regarding a band competition this year. The information is also contained in this email and will be going home with students.
Advanced Band
This week we discussed our upcoming band competition. Band competitions are an excellent way for groups to get feedback from professional musicians and judges that give rating on the performance. Groups generally are competing against themselves to see how well they can do though there sometimes are also competitions between all the groups. This gives our ensemble the chance to really showcase all the progress they have made in their learning and learn what else they can improve on. The link below is the document that your students received this morning. If it does not work to open it, please let me or Mrs. J know. It contains more information about the competition.

More music will be coming soon as I make final decisions on what we will be playing for each performance.
4/5 Grade Band
Please make sure your students have their instruments and books for class!! In both grade levels I have had students not bring their instrument in once this semester. I do not want anyone to fall behind as I do not have backup instruments in the room for them to practice on.
5th Grade: This week we continued our work in the red books on page 10 and learned a new note: concert G. This means it is a G for flutes and percussion, an A for clarinets and trumpets, and an E for saxophones.
4th Grade: This week we focused on moving further in our red books. They will have a play check next Tuesday February 3rd on number 18.
