General Information

Week 16 of class is now complete! This school year has been flying by and I cannot believe we are almost done. I hope everyone has had a fun year in band. I know I have had a ton of fun working with your students and getting to know them even more. As we look to the end of the year, more information will go out about returning school instruments for the summer and making sure we are prepared to start again in the fall.

Announcement: 4th and 5th grade, your Sunday performance has been canceled!!! Parents please make note of this. I do not need students for the 10:30 service on Sunday May 3rd.

Advanced Band

This week we continued our focus on all our Fine Art Night music, but we also added in the National Anthem. We are playing the National Anthem for the opening part of the Celebrate America Night event tonight at 5:30. Call time is 5:15 and we will be set up on the stage. Students will be dismissed to their classes right after for their presentations. We also are working on adding in the final song in our Sound of Music medley, which is Climb Every Mountain. We did not play this one for Grandparents day due to how quickly they had to learn the piece so I am excited to add it in now. Lion King is also coming along really well. We are working on connecting all of our tempo changes together. The goal of Epic Venture is keeping our momentum moving and not slowing down. Metronome practice at home is a great way for them to check in on this piece.

4/5 Grade Band

We are NOT performing the prelude for the May 3rd 10:30 service.

This week I would love for the students to get at least 30 minutes of at home practice done. This is a good amount of time for them to look at both From Now On and Make a Joyful Sound. These are our two pieces for Fine Art Night. The Sunday performance was called off due to me being a bit worried about not getting all the parts covered as well as group confidence. Due to me being sick and state testing, we missed some rehearsal time and I want the students to go into a performance feeling confident they can play the piece. By waiting until Fine Art Night, they have more time to build that confidence. Thank you for your flexibility with this!

5th Grade: This week we went over Make a Joyful Sound and From Now On. They can play From Now on along with the online recording pretty well so I am looking forward to hearing them with A Band during school rehearsals next week.

4th Grade: This week we worked on Make a Joyful Sound. Please make sure your student writes in their note names and/or finger numbers into their parts to help them learn the piece. During class time we work on putting it all together, but I do not have time stop and have them write everything in. If they can do this at home, that would be a lot of help.
