This week was the fifth week of band class and it was very successful! Thank you parents for getting your students here on time and thank you students for your enthusiasm in class. Parents, please continue to encourage your students to practice at home during the week! This time is vital for their growth as a musician and helps us learn more in class. If you have students wanting to take private lessons, please reach out so I can hopefully connect you with people in the area. I would love to do so.<\/p>\n
Student Recordings: To submit a video or audio recording to me, students should ask to use a parent’s device such as a phone, iPad, computer etc. to record the asked for music. This week continued focus on scales and Veterans Day music. This is highly encouraged to be practiced at home.<\/strong> I have told them they need to prove to me they can perform Let Freedom Ring by Nov. 11 or after next week, I will pull it from the program and have them wait to play it until March. This is simply so they can feel confident in their performance on Nov. 11. Bb major and Eb major should be practiced this week. Students can submit a video by email of the full scale through the thirds to be added to the leaderboard. 3 hours overall for each week is a good goal with any of the music.<\/p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.0″ _module_preset=”default” custom_margin=”||0px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”] This week focused on book exercises and learning to read music while playing their instruments. Students should continue to practice the notes and exercises from class at home. We have gone through pg. 6 in their red books and are actively working our way through page 7. We have played through no. 9 in class, but they can start to look ahead of that if they wish. We also covered how to clean out their instruments when they are done playing.
