Congratulations on a fantastic Christmas program!! Both pieces sounded fantastic and the group received amazing feedback afterward and I could not be prouder of all the hard work the students have put in to preparing for the performance.<\/p>\n
We are now starting to hit the ground running on our preparations for this semester now that the Christmas program is finally finished. I gave out parts for Epic Venture, which is the piece the group did a trial run of last week. This piece is going to be fun to learn as each part has its own melody happening simultaneously as the other parts. This provides the students the chance to learn how to be independent on their own parts compared to playing the exact same thing as their neighbors all the time.\u00a0<\/p>\n
More music will be coming soon as I make final decisions on what we will be playing for each performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

4\/5 Grade Band<\/h3>\n

This week we continued our review of our skills from last semester by building up from the basics once again. We also started to discuss possibilities of what they could perform for Fine Art Night. I like to hear student suggestions (with parameters in place) to give them a chance to have a say in what they are learning. This also can make the music more exciting and fun if they had the opportunity to help select it. I will still make final decisions, but I do value their input.<\/p>\n
5th Grade: This week, we did a book exercise marathon to review what we learned last semester. We also worked on our listening skills through me playing a 4 beat pattern on my flute and them echoing me. This gave them the opportunity to work on listening not only to my rhythms, but the notes I played as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n
4th Grade: We continued our work from last week by going through the exercises on page 7 in our red books. We are making sure we have a solid understanding of our different rhythms like whole notes, half notes, and quarter notes before we move on further in the book.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Please make sure your student brings their instrument to school each week!! I have had students without an instrument multiple times already this semester.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n
