Week 3 of class is now complete! This week was a bit short due to the holiday, but I know I enjoyed my longer weekend and I hope you did as well. We have now settled back into our usual class rhythms and are working hard on our music. Please make sure you let me know if your student has to miss a practice or performance this semester as it is becoming increasingly important that I have everyone present for performances to sound their absolute best. Also please make sure your student remembers to bring their instruments to school each week!! I have had a few forgetting multiple weeks now.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Advanced Band<\/h3>\n

Another week down! While this time is not super busy with performances, we are using this time to really hone our skills. I am stepping up the challenges I am giving them in their music so this time is super important for them to practice these new concepts at home so we can implement them in our pieces. I am working with them this semester on part independence. Epic Venture provides a unique challenge with each of the four parts essentially having their own melodies separate from everyone else. This means that less people are playing the same thing as them so the students need to be extra confident on their parts. Please make sure they practice at home!<\/p>\n

More music will be coming soon as I make final decisions on what we will be playing for each performance.\u00a0<\/p>\n

4\/5 Grade Band<\/h3>\n

Please make sure your students have their instruments and books for class!! In both grade levels I have had students not bring their instrument in once this semester. I do not want anyone to fall behind as I do not have backup instruments in the room for them to practice on.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

5th Grade: This week I only saw them on Thursday and we worked on creating our own short songs using the notes and rhythms we know.<\/p>\n

4th Grade: We continued our work from last week on page 7 in class this week. I challenged them with the listen and write down what you hear exercise in their books. This gives them the chance to develop their listening abilities.<\/p>\n
