Newsletter For January 13th – 16th

January 8, 2025

I pray that you and your families will have a Happy, Blessed, and a Safe 2025!

I trust that in the last few weeks you had a wonderful celebration of Jesus’ Birth and lots of great family time to play, relax, and rest, just as I did! I want to thank each of you parents and my class of 4th graders for the kind gifts of candles, treats, ornaments, cards, and the generous gift cards for outings to several restaurants in the area! Your generosity and words of kindness are so much appreciated! God bless you!

Reading/ Spelling- This week we will begin reading the novel The Family Under the Bridge by Natalie Savage Carlson. Due to the weather and lost school days we will repeat the Vocabulary / Spelling List that was for our first week back. (Students will be correcting their Pretest for this list over the weekend to prepare for a Dictation Test on Monday, January 13th and a Retake Test on Wednesday, January 15th)

Craft Supplies still needed-   We will still be needing wrapping paper tubes and paper towel tubes for a project for 2nd semester.  Thank you for holding on to these items and sending them to school as soon as it is convenient for you – just, don’t throw them away! Thank you!

MemoryAssignments:

Tuesday, January 14th – Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos

Thursday, January 16th – Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi

Multiplication Memorization

We will be going over the Multiplication Tables of 0 – 12 in the New Year! Please practice the tables using flash cards, computer games, etc. so that your child can increase in speed and accuracy. We will be taking multiplication tests over each of the tables at the beginning next week. Your child will need to know each fact and answer in 2-3 seconds and will need to get a score of at least 90% to pass each timed test and move on to the next one. Students will be working to earn a special treat for passing each of the tests. Please prepare your child to answer the multiplication tables of 0 – 2 for next week so that your child may test out of those tables. We will test on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Please look for more information coming home this week.

Book-It Please continue recording your child’s minutes of reading outside of school. Be sure you and your child sign the completed calendar. Your child will receive a coupon for a Personal Pan Pizza from Pizza Hut for meeting the 600-minute monthly goal! The January calendar was sent home last week in the Thursday folder to be completed and returned by Friday, February 7th.
