Newsletter for May 5th – 9th

April 30, 2025

April showers bring May flowers….and May brings lots of activities, excitement, and dare I say summer daydreams and plans. The students will find it hard to concentrate, but we will endure and finish the race!

INTERNATIONAL FAIR

See you tonight for some education, a cultural experience, and lots of fun! Please remind your student(s) to walk, view projects without touching, and travel with their family.

  • 5:45 PM – Students should arrive and check in with their teachers in their classrooms.
  • 6:00 PM – The Parade of Countries will begin in the Family Life Center, featuring a traditional dance and student presentations.
  • After the parade, families are invited to tour classrooms to view projects and sample food from around the globe.

Please be sure your child has the necessary “costume” for the evening: white button shirt or blouse (Short sleeves are fine and will suit the season.) with black pants for the boys and red skirts for the girls. Black shoes are preferred. Please, do not send your student with bright colored shoes. The students will be wearing white gloves, berets, and scarves that will be provided here at school.

Student of the Week- VIP / Classroom Visits

We enjoyed our V.I.P. visit with Amelia’s dad, Jay, who is a nurse. He shared photos and stories about Amelia and their family. We were treated with some of Amelia’s favorite snacks- all the makings for s’mores, Mike & Ike candy, and dehydrated apple slices! Yum! Our next visitors will be Isaiah’s parents. We will share about his VIP visitors in our next newsletter. It is so fun to see the parents’ and children’s faces light up with joy when they talk about their families! The entire class gains so much from this experience!

4th Grade Field Trips: Thank you to all those who have offered to drive and chaperone for our two end-of-the-year field trips! Let’s keep these days in prayer asking for good weather, safe travels, and lots of fellowship and fun and learning!

Rocket League – Starting Monday April 28th until May 15th, Mrs. Stava will be offering Rocket League open play on Mon/Tues/Thurs 3:45 – 4:45 in the tech office for any student in 3rd – 8th grade who wants to get together and play. Look for more information in this week’s announcements from the office. Parents will need to email Mrs. Stava to let her know if their child wants to participate so she can be prepared. Following each session, parents will need to pick their students up from the church entrance.

Reading/ SpellingOur next and last part of the novel will be Part 8. We will complete the novel this week. We plan to have the test for Part 8 on Monday, May 5th. We will complete the novel workbook during the week of May 5th – 9th. We plan to conclude our study with some group discussions and in-class group project. Please look for a permission slip to be coming home which will allow your child to view the movie “Wonder” with the class. The movie is rated PG because of the thematic elements, some bullying, and some mild language. All of these have and will be discussed in class in light of our Christian values and beliefs.

No Spelling List – May 5th – 9th

Thursday, May 8th

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith,
