Newsletter For Nov. 3rd – 7th

October 29, 2025

The fourth grade is finishing our study of Martin Luther and the Reformation, which we will be observing on Friday, October 31st. Our Chapel Families each created a collaborative poster that highlights the truths and teachings of Martin Luther and the events of the first Reformation Day, October 31, 1517. May God continue to bless our Lutheran schools and all of His children who attend them! To God be the glory! Please be sure to add to your calendar: 3rd-5th sing at 10:30 on November 2nd. Don’t forget that the clock will Fall Back one hour for Daylight Savings Time, and we will get an extra hour Sunday morning! Have a blessed weekend!

Friday -Special Fall Dress Day– S)n Friday, October 31st students may wear a Fall Shirt to celebrate the season. Students must wear their uniform bottoms (pants or skirts) along with a fall shirt that meets dress code guidelines. No Halloween shirts or costumes will be allowed.

Report Card Envelopes
Report cards were sent home last Thursday envelope. Please sign and return the unsealed envelope but keep the report card. Thank you!

Water Bottles
Please no longer send your child to school with Stanley Cups or any water bottles/cups that do not have a twist-on lid and straw that is press-down & leak proof. This has become a safety concern because frequent spills and leaks are “invisible” but very dangerous on our shiny tile floors. Please also note that water bottles that are larger than 12 oz. do not fit in our desk water bottle holders and are large enough for our needs. Thank you for your help and cooperation!

Spelling Bee
We will have a classroom Spelling Bee on Monday, November 3rd. We will determine our classroom 1st place winner, second place, and alternate. The school wide Spelling Bee will be held on Wednesday, November 19th.

Reading
We started our new novel study for “My Side of the Mountain” by Jean Craighead George. We will be taking a Vocabulary Test each week on Friday. The students will be making Vocabulary Flash Cards each week to help them prepare. We will be answer story questions as we read and will be typing them into a journal in our 4th grade Google Classroom. Each student will be making a Final Project, which is due on Wednesday, November 19th. Final Project information is being posted in the Google Classroom and will be emailed to parents soon. Thank you for your help and support!

Book-It
Your child’s October Book-It Calendar is being stored in your child’s binder and is due by Friday, November 8th. Our new calendar for November is being sent home in this week’s Thursday Folder. Please store it in a safe place at home or in your child’s binder. Please help keep track of the minutes of reading your child does each day of the month. Record the minutes on the calendar, and return it to the teacher with your signature and your child’s signature. Your child will need to complete 600 minutes of reading outside of school hours to receive the Pizza Hut Personal Pan Pizza. Please support your child in taking on this project and completing it. Thank you!

Veteran’s Day

Our school would like to honor the Veteran’s here in our Hope family. We will have a special program for them on Tuesday, November 11th, which includes breakfast and music performances from our children’s choirs and the band. Please inform the office of the names and addresses of your Vets so that we may include them in our special day! The students will be creating special art projects to decorate Concord Hall and are looking forward to honoring our Vets!

Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child –  Hope is again collecting Operation Christmas Child boxes this year. We are asking each family to take a shoebox home to fill for a child overseas to help him/her celebrate Christmas and hear the message of Jesus’ love at Christmas. The shoeboxes are stacked up in front of the office waiting to be filled! We will bring them to chapel on November 12th to pray for the children who will receive them. This is a great opportunity for us to share the Good News of Christ with others!  So I am challenging our classroom to fill 10 boxes.  If we make or surpass our goal, the class will earn a game/activity time in the classroom.  If you have more items than you can fit in a shoebox, but not enough to fill another, send them into our classroom and we will put them all together to fill additional boxes.
