Newsletter – September 6th

September 6, 2023

Dear Parents,

I pray that you had a fun and restful Labor Day weekend! It is good to be back at school. We are in the middle of celebrating our 40th anniversary this week. Your children have enjoyed dressing up for Spirit Week!

Hope Lutheran School is celebrating 40 years of ministry on Saturday, September 9 from 4-7 pm. The school choirs and band will perform at the celebration. Kindergarten-2nd grade students should meet their teachers at the picnic tables at 4:45 pm. 3rd-8th grade students should meet their teachers in the FLC commons at 4:45 pm. The choirs will sing at 5:00 pm, and the band will perform after the choirs. Students will be dismissed from the picnic tables to parents after they perform. Students should wear Hope shirts and appropriate shorts.

Schedule:

September 9 – 40th Anniversary Bash and Pie Auction 4 pm

September 11 – PTL Meeting 7 pm

September 11-15 – MAP testing

September 21 – Mid-Term Parent Teacher Conferences – Early Dismissal K-8

September 22 – Parent Teacher Conferences – No School

Behavior binders will go home each day starting this week. We are beginning group reading next week. Your child will have a binder and a reading book in their backpack each day. Your child should read their assigned pages out loud to you each night. You will initial their binder as confirmation that they read to you.

The colored marks in the behavior section correspond to the choices your child made throughout that day. Green = good choices. Yellow = Made a wrong choice. Red = Made several wrong choices.

First grade MAP testing will occur the week of September 11th-15th. It is important that your child gets enough sleep before these tests. Please ensure your child brings a snack and a water bottle for these testing days.

Thank you to everyone who has already signed up for Parent/Teacher Conferences on September 21st and 22nd. Please sign up for a meeting time at the following link: Parent/Teacher Conference Sign Up. We will have early dismissal on September 21st and no school on September 22nd due to Parent/Teacher Conferences. I look forward to meeting with each of you.
