First Grade News 9/12

September 11, 2024

Dear Parents,

Week at a Glance

This week in religion we are learning about Joseph and his brothers. For memory we learned the third commandment and discussed how we set aside time to worship God. In social studies we are learning comparison skills by studying how families in the past are alike and different from families today. During science class we are learning about sound and how to describe sounds with volume and pitch. In reading we are reading realistic fiction stories and learning about the short “i” sound. In language we are matching CVC words with pictures and learning how some letters have different sound rules. In math we are building our knowledge of addition strategies as we add within ten. During handwriting we are practicing writing words with good spacing and without slant.
