Dear Parents,
Week at a Glance
This week we are reviewing letters “d”, “a”, and “o” in handwriting. In language we are learning about how the letter “r” changes vowel sounds. During religion we are studying the kings of Israel and the prophet Elijah. Our memory verse this week was Psalm 46:1 which tells how God is our refuge and help in times of trouble. We are practicing place value with tens and ones during math. We are reading informational text about plants and animals during our reading lessons. During science we are learning about animal life cycles. In social studies we are learning about goods and services.
Schedule
November 20 – Spelling Bee
November 21 – Picture Retakes
November 27-29 – Thanksgiving Break No School
Candy
Students should not bring Halloween candy or other candy in as part of lunch or snack.
Library Books
Please make sure your child is returning their school library book back to school by Tuesday of each week.
Thanksgiving Break
Hope will not have school from November 27th-29th in celebration of Thanksgiving. I pray that you have a safe and enjoyable break!
Cold Weather
The weather continues to get colder. Please make sure you send your child to school with a jacket every day. Morning recess is often colder than the maximum temperature for the day. Additionally your student may bring a uniform sweater or Hope sweatshirt to wear in the classroom if they are cold throughout the day. When the temperature is below 50 degrees students must have an extra layer to help them stay warm.
Christmas Families
This year will mark our 31st year of offering the love of Christ through the outpouring of food and clothing to those less fortunate during the Christmas season. We are asking you to consider joining us in making it another successful season for the families that Hope Lutheran School has adopted during this season of giving.
