Dear Parents,

Week at a Glance

This week in science we are learning about animal habitats. In social studies we are learning about jobs. In reading we are learning about main ideas and details. In language we are working on words with double consonants and the suffix “-ing”. During religion we are learning about the time of the prophets and preparing for the Christmas program. For memory we learned Romans 8:28 which discusses how God works things together for good. In math we are comparing tens and ones to determine which numbers are larger or smaller. In handwriting we are reviewing letters “c”, “e, and “f”.

Cold Weather
The weather continues to get colder. Please make sure you send your child to school with a jacket every day. Morning recess is often colder than the maximum temperature for the day. Additionally your student may bring a uniform sweater or Hope sweatshirt to wear in the classroom if they are cold throughout the day. When the temperature is below 50 degrees students must have an extra layer to help them stay warm. When the weather is 39 degrees or colder students must have a heavy winter jacket. Students are also welcome to bring hats and gloves to keep them warm during recess.

Christmas Families

This year will mark our 31st year of offering the love of Christ through the outpouring of food and clothing to those less fortunate during the Christmas season.  We are asking you to consider joining us in making it another successful season for the families that Hope Lutheran School has adopted during this season of giving.  Click here for the donation list: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Wm_t7ec0QR_XceXTTWxzQagQHc_BpccAM6sMYE8DF4s/edit?usp=sharing

The 1st-7th grade Christmas program will be on December 19th at 6:30 pm. Students should wear their Christmas best outfits for this event.

Christmas Store

There is a flyer going home in Thursday folders this week with information regarding the Christmas Store. This is an opportunity for students to choose gifts for their family and friends. Please review this flyer for more information regarding this opportunity.

Students should bring a water bottle to school every day. They have opportunities to refill their water bottle during the day. Having a water bottle at their desk helps students stay hydrated and focused on their learning.
