August 27 – Teacher In-Service Day – 12 pm Early Dismissal – Extended Care
Back to School Night
The K-2 back to school night is Thursday, August 21st. Please plan to attend. This is intended to give parents information about what to expect for your child’s second grade experience. Childcare will be provided.
Back to School Night will begin upstairs in the music room. After the whole group presentations are done we will meet in the 2nd grade classroom downstairs for information specific to 2nd grade. I will have a presentation, handouts, and the class schedule available.
Early Dismissal
Hope will dismiss early on Wednesday, August 27th for a teacher in-service day. Extended care will be available. 2nd grade early dismissal time begins at 11:30 am.
Home Visits
Please sign up for a home visit if you have not done so already. It has been wonderful to connect with the students at the start of the year as we prepare for second grade.
Reminders
The 2nd grade lunch time is an hour later this year. Please send your child with healthy snacks for both the morning and afternoon. Make sure that your child understands where the snacks are in their lunchbox or backpack so they are not accidentally eaten along with their lunch.
Hydration is an important part of keeping students focused and healthy, Encourage your student to bring a water bottle with them each day to school.
Planners
2nd grade is the first year students bring home planners with their assignments. Please check their planner each night for assignments and teacher notes. Planners should be returned to school each day. Please look for a green, yellow, or red mark in their planner in the day of the week box as their behavior communication.
