Dear Parents,
I pray that you have a safe and blessed spring break with your families!
Week at a Glance
This week in handwriting we practiced letter “c”. In religion we learned about Jesus’ Transfiguration and the raising of Lazarus. We also focused on Psalm 98:4 as part of National Lutheran School’s Week. In math we reviewed our addition facts to strengthen those skills as we add three-digit numbers. This week in science we listened to presentations about animals from Shawnee Mission North high schoolers. We also practiced our coding skills with robots. In social studies we learned about American culture. We read chapters 6-10 in Charlotte’s Web this week and will continue our novel study after spring break. In language we are working on abbreviations and adding plural endings.

Library Books
Each Thursday students have the option to check out books from the school library. Students are not permitted to borrow a new book until the previous book has been returned. School library books should be returned by Tuesday of each week so students can check out a new book.
History Fair
Information will be coming soon for this year’s curriculum fair. The focus this year is history. Second grade’s research focus is American inventors.
Students will be responsible for a research project which will be completed mostly at school. Any aspects that must be completed at home will be shared in advance.

Please send your child with an appropriate jacket for each day’s weather. Students are not permitted to go out for recess if they are not adequately dressed with a warm jacket. Students may also bring gloves and hats to help them stay warm during this cold and snowy season.
