Dear Parents,

Week at a Glance

This week in handwriting we worked on letters “l”, “i”, “t”, and “o”. In reading we are discussing how authors describe characters in realistic fiction stories. In language class we are learning about syllables, sentences, and digraphs. This week we finished our first unit on addition and are beginning a new unit on subtraction. In religion we are learning about Abraham and how he prayed to God. For memory we learned the first and second commandments. In science we are continuing to learn about states of matter and how some matter can change from one state to another. This week in social studies we are learning about how communities change.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher conferences will take place on September 18th and 19th. School will dismiss early on September 18th and there will be no school on September 19th due to these conferences. Please sign up for a conference at the following link: Second Grade Parent/Teacher Conferences. These conferences are an important way to connect regarding your student’s education thus far in second grade. Please choose a meeting time by Tuesday, September 16th.

School Pictures

School pictures will be taken on September 25th. Students may wear a non-uniform shirt with uniform bottoms. If girls choose to wear a dress for their picture they must bring a full uniform to change into.

Fall Break

Fall break will be Monday, September 29th through Friday, October 3rd. School will not be in session during those days.
