Week at a Glance
This week in reading we read about prairie animals and the long “a” sound spelling “ai”, “ay”, and “ea”. In language we are working on the special sounds “ear” makes and matching compound words. This week in math we are beginning regrouping with two-digit addition. In science we are beginning a new unit on plants. During religion we are learning about Israel’s history during the time of Kind David. In handwriting we are writing numbers before we begin working on cursive letters. In social studies we are learning about how work and money are connected.

Picture Retakes
Picture retakes will be held on Thursday, November 13th from 10am-12pm.
Spelling Bee
Hope’s Spelling Bee will be held on November 19th at 2pm in the church sanctuary.
Tissues
Our classroom supply of tissues is running low. If you are able please send in a box of tissues to help our classroom stay healthy. Thank you!
Reading Logs
2nd graders will track their nightly reading assignments using a reading log. You must sign the reading log and record the name of the book your child read so your student can get credit for reading. Nightly reading helps students maintain and improve fluency and provides them with an opportunity to independently use the reading strategies they are learning in school.
Cold Weather
Weather conditions continue to change and get colder. Please ensure your child brings a jacket to school to prepare for the day’s weather conditions. Per Hope’s recess policy, students must have an extra layer when the temperature is below 50 degrees.
Thanksgiving Break
Hope will not have school from November 25-28 due to Thanksgiving. We pray you have a blessed Thanksgiving break!
