Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! It is a blessing to be back in the classroom for another semester of school.

Week at a Glance

This week in math we are reviewing math concepts from last semester and previewing measurement concepts for our upcoming unit. In reading we are practicing vowel teams with the long “o” sound. In language we are working on prefixes and learning how to use proofreading marks. During social studies we are beginning a new unit on people and places. In religion we are learning about John the Baptist and the Old Testament prophecies that refer to Jesus. In science we are learning about animal habitats.

Panda Express 8th Grade Fundraiser

Hope’s 8th grade class will be hosting a fundraiser at Panda Express from 4-8pm on Thursday, January 8th. Please consider attending to support our 8th graders!

Christmas Parties – Update

Christmas parties will be held on Friday, January 9th from 2-3pm. We are grateful to our room parents for their dedication and efforts in planning the class party. All second grade parents are invited to attend and celebrate with your student.

Cleaning Wipes

Our classroom supply of cleaning wipes is running low. Please send in a container of Clorox wipes if you are able to help our classroom stay clean and healthy. Thank you to everyone who has sent in tissues! Your support is greatly appreciated!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Spring conferences are an opportunity to connect about your child’s learning and progress so far in second grade. Here is the link for January parent-teacher conferences: Conference Sign Ups.

These conferences are mandatory to attend. Please sign up for a time that works for you. Conferences will be held January 15th and 16th, 2026. Hope will have a half day on January 15th and no school on January 16th.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

There will be no school on Monday, January 19th in recognition of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
