Week at a Glance
This week in handwriting we learned cursive lowercase “y” and “x”. In reading we are continuing our novel study of Charlotte’s Web. In science we are learning about Earth’s materials. For social studies we are continuing to write our research paragraphs in preparation for the Celebrating America Fair. In language we are studying how nouns and verbs function in the subject and predicate parts of sentences. During religion we are reading about the events that happened directly after Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. In math we are regrouping hundreds, tens, and ones when subtracting.

Celebrating America 250 Years Fair (History Fair)
This year our curriculum fair will celebrate 250 years of America. 2nd grade’s research focus is on inventors. The research portion will be done at school. Your student will need your support to complete their 3D project. Students must choose one option but may choose additional options to present their research.
The 3D project options are:
- Diorama
- Figure Model
- Dress like the inventor
- Build an invention prototype
Please refer to the email I sent last week for your child’s assigned inventor. Thank you for encouraging your students in their research!
